Ian Mattioli MBE, High Sheriff of Leicestershire 2021/22

Ian and Clare's aim during his High Sheriff tenure is to raise £30,000 for charities across Leicestershire with any excess funds being donated to suitable national charities.

About the Cause

Ian said "I am honoured to be High Sheriff of Leicestershire for 2021/22. As many of you are aware I'm a proud Leicester lad and have live all my life in Leicestershire, and I can think of no better way to repay the county where I was born, grew up and went on to found my business, than to undertake this historical civic duty and raise some much needed funds for my chosen charities."

Objectives

During his year as High Sheriff of Leicestershire Ian's aim was to raise £30,000 for his chosen charities in Leicestershire, which he successfully achieved during his cycle ride in the summer. (Read more about the ride here: High Sheriff of Leicestershire Cycle Ride). Any additional funds raised during his tenure as High Sheriff will be distributed to other Local and National Charities.

I just wanted to thank you for lovely letter from Ian letting us know about the incredible £6,000 that will be coming our way. This is absolutely amazing so can you please, as always, convey our heartfelt thanks for being selected and for the fantastic challenge that he undertook.

Work Carried Out

Throughout the year Ian and Clare hope to host a number of events - the aim of which is to continue the fund raising activities undertaken by my predecessors, supporting charities in the place Ian loves and calls ‘home’. Helping those around him has always been a key part of Ian's life and when covid-19 challenged us, he looked for ways to fundraise without relying on everyone being in a room together bring together business, civic and charitable organisations to better align them for the complex task ahead as we all head out into the 'new normal' post pandemic.
